PLAYING WITH STATUES – KIDS WORKSHOP
Would you like playing with statues? Do you know this popular game? It’s your chance to have fun with 1 – 2 – 3 David! Playing with Statues kids workshop is an Educational Walking Tour in the city center to discover famous statues that decorate Florence. Kids will learn names of major sculptors and their masterpieces! Kids will be perfect full skill models, imitating the positions of the sculptures seen in the path, they will choose to play sculptural marble masterpieces like good mimes. Kids will watch with wonder the Brunelleschi dome beside his statue! They will be the Famous Men and Artists of the Uffizi Loggia, placed in the niches. Girls will be statues of Sabine in the Signoria Loggia, boys the Davìd or the Neptune, etc. Come and play with me at this special children workshop!!!
Educational Goals: The teaching proposal aims formative knowledge of major statues in Florence! Kids will approach through the game to the great Florentine Sculpture, learning the different materials, the positions, the shape and the sculptors name!
Path: 1 – 2 – 3 David! Playing with Statues Path opens in front of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo) to get to the Piazza Santa Croce! Duration of Kids Workshop is about 2 hours, starts with imitation of the statues and learning about sculpture.
Content and Methodologies: During the workshop will be told episodes about life of major Florentine sculptors and their works. Kids will know about Donatello, Michelangelo, Cellini and more. Both teaching tools of animated reading and workshop for image education will be used. Kids will be little mimes, perfect full skill models, giving the voice of each statue with a new life!
Instructions for 1 – 2 – 3 David! Playing with Statues Path: Duration is about 2 hours in the open air. It’s recommended therefore sneakers and hat and a bottle of water. Kids are required to bring from home a canvas bag with old rags and common objects: neckless, old hats, ladles, headscarfs, etc.
Final work of 1 – 2 – 3 David! Playing with Statues workshop: an improvisation performed in front the chosen statue to imitate, dressing with old rags and all items brought from home.
Age: Primary School, Kids and Family groups.

- Time Tour – Morning 10 – 12; Afternoon 15 – 17; Sunday Afternoon 15 – 17 (15 minutes before in front the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo)
