Perché visitare la Sinagoga di Firenze? Il Tempio Maggiore Israelitico è la principale sinagoga presente in città di Firenze, è il simbolo di libertà della Comunità Ebraica, riconoscibile dalla sua cupola di rame, che spicca fra i più importanti monumenti cittadini. La volontà di costruire questo monumentale edificio in uno stile moresco fu grazie al Cavalier David Levi che donò il suo grande patrimonio alla Comunità Ebraica, i tre architetti: Michieli, Falcini e Treves in soli 8 anni compirono l’impresa, infatti il 24 ottobre 1882 fu inaugurata. È la più alta Sinagoga in Europa ed è la Prima ad essere costruita in libertà in Italia.

PROGRAMMA

Incontro all’ingresso di Via Farini n° 6 alla biglietteria. Per motivi di sicurezza è necessario depositare all’ingresso della Biglietteria, in appositi armadietti, i propri Cell. Tablet, etc., inoltre si consiglia un abbigliamento adeguato al luogo religioso. La visita inizia all’interno del giardino della comunità ebraica con la sua descrizione e i relativi aneddoti legati agli eventi ricordati dalle lapidi presenti. Il percorso continuerà con la descrizione architettonica dell’esterno del Tempio Maggiore Israelitico fino a giungere all’ingresso della Sinagoga. I Signori e i ragazzi sono cortesemente invitati a indossare la Kippah, il tradizionale copricapo della cultura ebraica, prima di accomodarsi in Tempio. All’interno i visitatori potranno sedersi sui posti normalmente usati dai membri della comunità ebraica per la preghiera. Sarà presentata l’architettura interna e la bellezza dello stile moresco unico in città, evidenziando gli aspetti legati al culto e alle funzioni religiose. Il percorso proseguirà al Primo Piano, dove ci sarà una specifica spiegazione sulla storia della comunità ebraica con supporti fotografici, immagini che aiuteranno i visitatori a comprendere lo sviluppo della presenza ebraica dagli inizi del XV secolo. Eccezionale l’esposizione di una Torah e di rari oggetti cerimoniali. Straordinaria è la collezione raccolta di oggetti appartenuti a membri della Comunità che oggi sono esposti al Secondo Piano, oggi diventato museo, che ci offre l’occasione di raccontare le tradizioni familiari dal Matrimonio alla Brit Milah (Circoncisione) fino alle maggiori feste della religione ebraica, da Purim a Pesach. Alla fine ci sarà un momento di riflessione all’interno della piccola stanza dedicata alla Shoah. Usciti dal Tempio la direzione sarà da Piazza dei Ciompi verso Via dei Calzaioli, fino a raggiungere Piazza Duomo, il tema ebraico sarà un dialogo fra le formelle del Campanile di Giotto e la Porta del Paradiso di Ghiberti. Lasciando il “Bel San Giovanni” si andrà in Piazza dell’Olio e si scoprirà un’insolita Menorah… percorrendo via del Corso si arriverà in Piazza Della Repubblica e si potrà capire meglio la storia di quella piazza pensando al Ghetto Ebraico!

Why is important visit the Synagogue in Florence? The “Tempio Maggiore Israelitico” is the main Synagogue in the city of Florence, it’s the symbol of freedom of the Jewish Community, and the dome is recognizable by the green copper that stands out among the highest monuments of the city. The “Cavalier David Levi” bequeathed his great legacy to the Jewish Community, so it was possible to build this monumental building in a Moorish style. The three Architects – Michieli, Falcini e Treves – built the Synagogue in just 8 years; in fact, October 24, 1882 was inaugurated. It’s the highest Synagogue in Europe and it’s the first to be built in freedom in Italy.

PROGRAM

Meeting at the Via Farini N° 6 to the Ticket Office. For security reasons, you have to let inside the lockers at the entrance of the ticket office, your staff: Mobile phone, Tablet, etc., also please be so kind to dress suitable for a religious place. The tour begins in the garden of the Jewish community with its description and anecdotes remembering the events of the plaques present. The path will continue with the architectural description of the exterior of the “Tempio Maggiore Israelitico” until reaching the entrance to the synagogue. The Lords and the boys are kindly requested to wear a Kippah, the traditional headgear of Jewish culture before sitting in the Temple. Inside, visitors can sit on the seats normally used by members of the Jewish community for prayer. It will be explained the architecture and interior beauty of the Moorish style, unique in the city. Particular attention will be dedicated to the Jewish religious issues. The path will continue on the first floor, where there I will show the history of the Florence Jewish community with photographic media, images that will help visitors understand the development of the Jewish presence from the beginning of the fifteenth century. The visitors have the unique chance to see a Torah scroll and rare ceremonial objects normally not visible. Extraordinary is the collection of items that belonged to members of the community, that is now exposed to the Second Floor, which gives us the opportunity to talk about the Jewish family traditions from Marriage to Brit Milah (Circumcision) to the major festivals of the Jewish religion, from Purim to Pesach. Eventually there will be a moment of reflection in the small room dedicated to the Shoah. Leaving the Temple the direction will be from Piazza dei Ciompi to Via dei Calzaioli, until you reach Piazza Duomo, here the Jewish theme will be a dialogue between the panels of Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Gate of Paradise by Ghiberti. Leaving the “Bel San Giovanni” you will go to Piazza dell’Olio and you’ll discover an unusual Menorah … along Via del Corso you will arrive in Piazza Della Repubblica and you will better understand the history of that square thinking about the Jewish Ghetto!
