PATH ON THE TRACES OF THE ANCIENT FLORENTIA
Imagine to make a jump back to the glories of Roman era: archeology and street names help you on this path, so you will discover the Roman Florentia. As time traveler you will cross the ancient northern gate: the Contra Aquilonem, protected by towers. You will see a Domus patrizia, its ornate mosaic floors shine now in the National Archaeological Museum of Florence…Continue on the main street of Cardo Maximus that brings you to the Roman Forum, the Capitoline Temple stands next to the Decumanus Maximus, dedicated to the Capitoline Triad, was built in Augustus era and enriched by Adriano. In Piazza Signoria you discover the large Roman Baths and the magnificent Theater, which marks the boundary of the ancient wall, over which the Temple of Isis welcomes oriental merchants. Finally you come to the Roman Amphitheater… During this kids workshop you will be a Little Archaeologist, you will discover the traces of Roman Florentia. Educational Goals: The teaching proposal aims formative knowledge of Roman Florence. Kids will approach through the game to the Archeology, learning the ancient story of the city of Florence.
Path: The Little Archaeologist Notebook Path opens in front of St. John Baptistery to get to the Piazza Santa Croce. Duration of Kids Workshop is about 2 hours, learning the important sites of Roman Florence with a city map, kids will discover an invisible ancient town!
Content and Methodologies: During the workshop will be told episodes of Roman Florentine era, the historical events and archaeological sites. Both teaching tools of animated reading and workshop for image education will be used. Kids will make an archaeological map or a notebook, drawing and writing with their point of view.
Instructions for The Little Archaeologist Notebook Path: Duration is about 2 hours in the open air. It’s recommended therefore sneakers and hat and a bottle of water. The Kids are required to bring an old notebook from home, colored pencils (or markers), a canvas bag with a hat. Kids will be given a modern map of Florence where mark the ancient sites.
Final work for The Little Archaeologist Notebook workshop: Kids will make their new map of Roman Florentia or their archaeological notebook with all drawing and writing of the path.
Age: Primary School, Kids and Family groups.
The Little Archaeologist Notebook is an educational Walking Tour in Florence, that will tell the story of the ancient Florentia in historical sites, Kids will be protagonists of an exciting path, full of surprises and unusual curiosity!
